Emergency vets in Newcastle upon Tyne

Frequently asked questions about emergency vets in Newcastle upon Tyne

When should I take my pet to an emergency vet in Newcastle upon Tyne?

Whether something is an emergency for your pet should always be judged by a vet — if in doubt, call your nearest animal hospital or emergency vet straight away.

Which emergency vets in Newcastle upon Tyne take urgent cases?

There are no emergency vets registered in Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding area on EveryVet — if it's an emergency, call your nearest animal hospital directly.

How much does an emergency vet visit cost?

Emergency vet costs vary a lot between practices and depend on the time of day and the treatment needed. Many animal hospitals add a surcharge for evening, weekend and night visits — ask the clinic when you call.

Is an animal hospital the same as an emergency vet?

Not quite. Animal hospitals are larger, usually staffed around the clock with specialists and full surgical facilities — they take both routine and urgent cases. An emergency vet can be a smaller practice with extended hours or a mobile vet.

What do the different emergency vet opening statuses mean?

These are three levels of cover. Open means the clinic is open and taking urgent cases. Closed but staffed means the clinic is closed but has staff on site — only urgent cases are seen, no routine bookings. Phone only means no one is on site, but a phone is answered and a vet can be reached. Always call the clinic first.
